There are over 375 scriptural texts regarding prayer. Can you find one to believe in, trust in, follow? I’m sure you can. I guarantee you can. Prayer is powerful and lasting. Prayer is your connection to the One, the only One who is able to answer. As a matter of fact, there’s nothing you can’t pray about, and I mean nothing! And guess what, you don’t need to be a member of any group, or go through anyone to talk to your Heavenly Father!
During this time of pandemic, racial tensions, lack of leadership, leadership in our country and too often many churches, schools and homes, we need to trust in prayer’s power. I’m not talking about “Two minutes and I’m done prayer”, I’m talking about fervent, purposeful prayer, that keeps you on your knees and won’t let you get up until you are filled with the spirit, prayer. James 5:16, “ The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”. It’s the prayer that doesn’t give up, the prayer that takes time, the prayer that is prayed in faith and with thanks, knowing that there is a God who sees, who hears, and will answer. Don’t let that word righteous confuse you. God has assigned to you the “righteousness” that you need to be able to come to him. None of us is righteous on his or her own merit. It is because of Jesus we have the privilege to pray. 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For our sake, he made him, (Jesus), to be sin, who knew no sin, so that in him, we might become the righteousness of God”. We’re covered. We can go to God anytime!
Now here’s an awesome promise, Hebrews 7:25, “Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through him since he always lives to make intercession for them. Jesus is praying for me, for you, for us! Can you imagine? Jesus is praying for you! Now if that isn’t awesome news, well, I’m sorry for you. You matter so much to God it’s almost unimaginable. So today, Monday, I challenge you to pray. Pray like crazy. Pray like you know you’re being heard. Pray like something is going to happen, because it is! Pray for wisdom and to be filled with Gods Spirit; pray for your needs to be met in a way that will not only help you, but give God glory. Pray for healing and thank God for this opportunity, and for Jesus who made it possible. Pray to have such a close relationship with God, that whatever happens, after praying, because you trust and obey Him, you know that everything will work out for your good. You may have to wait, wait in trust. He may say no, but know that He’s got something or someone better. For real, I’m not trying to give God a way out. No, God answers prayer! So pray.
If you choose to not do this, well, it’s on you and I say blessings. But what will it hurt? What will happen if we all, today, take the time to pray for this country, for our freedom, safety, and protection? What will it hurt to pray for this pandemic to end, and God alone get the credit? What will it hurt if you pray for provisions and health and wisdom? And hey, if you don’t want to pray for yourself, pray for someone else. Pray for those in need, pray for the lonely, the hurting, and how God can use you to help. And if all you can do is pray, then that’s what you do until God deems more. Just Pray! Really, today, now, just pray because that’s where real power is. Listen you got the power, use it, today! Happy Monday. Start praying!
