If I think of God as a parent, I can imagine He gets pretty sick of me. I’m often spoiled acting. Yep yep. I am. Oh, hold up! lol you probably are too. I get it though; and I’m sure He does too. It’s called grace and mercy. You see, all too often I forget the times He’s shown Himself and His love to me, and in times of life’s challenges, you know, the ones that keep me on my knees, the ones that never seem to let up and make me think He’s turned his back on me; I begin to doubt his very existence; or at best His love for me.
Many years ago in a study group, one of the wiser of my girlfriends, Camille, when asked what gifts God gives us, said, “Memory; He gives us the gift of memory”. When the question was asked, many of us were spewing out all the superficial common gifts that if you don’t have them, you feel slighted, and unworthy, but not Camille. She quite calmly and firmly said, memory! You could see the questioning look on many of our faces as she went on to explain how when in the seemingly worst of struggles or tests, she’s able to stop and remember all God has done. In those times, She’s reminded in a virtual list, of the many times God has clearly and literally shown up, provided, protected, blessed, and even healed. Those memories, precious memories, help her get through any current challenging situation she might be in! Those memories help her remain God focused and not storm focused. Those memories afford her peace in the worst of storms! Wow! And that’s why they’re called Precious memories! Precious memories, how they linger, how they ever flood my soul. God is so amazing!
This is the question, not, do you have memories, because I know you have to; but will you, today, wherever you find yourself use them? I’ve got some amazing ones. I’m going to start writing them down. I’m going to even maybe, build an altar, something that helps me remember! My soul will look back in wonder when I remember the times...!
The word of God says this: “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What are these stones?’ then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Israel crossed over this Jordan on dry land’; for the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over.” Joshua 4:21–23”
God’s going to do for you what He’s done so many times before! REMEMBER!! Happy Monday Noelette sings!
